The Hunting Island Light House
The Hunting Island Light House is not the original Light House because Hunting Island is a prograding beach. A prograding beach is when the beach is getting smaller. The beach got too close to the water so they had to take it down. When the new one was built, they built it in sections so they could take it apart and move it away from the ocean. The Light House is patterned differently from others so people knew where they were. The Light House flashed every 30 seconds. They made this happen by cracking a 200 pound weight to turn a black wheel with a hole in it so the light shines through the hole at the right moment. The beach will always be getting closer to the Light House and the Light House will be moving away from the beach.
