Road Trip!

Welp tomorrow we are off.  AV, JV, BR and myself are loading down the Vibe and hitting the highway heading to Greenville.

Charleston is as far East as you can go in SC and Greenville is the largest city due West and still in SC.  Shock that it is – we are turning our backs on the ocean for a few days and aiming at the arts (with a little physics thrown in).

We are going to hit the Greenville Museum of Art, at one time they held the largest single collection of Wyeths in the world. They are showing a series of pieces about the “Upcountry” as this gently rising region is called.

Our shake-out-our-limbs stop will be at the Falls Park with their cantilevered bridge that sways when people walk upon it. (Have you noticed how little we use the preposition “upon”?) It is the site of the original mill in the city and is a wonderfully green and lush place.

Thursday will be full of museum work – the Bob Jones Art Gallery has the largest collection of religious art in the US, much of it in the Medieval, High Renaissance, Mannerist, and Baroque styles. We are going to fry here.

Thursday evening will be spent at the opera – Samson and Delilah.  We are very excited to be seeing another live opera.  (We had our Shakespeare kink filled on Sunday with the 12th Night.)

Friday will include visits to the Upcountry Museum (really it is like a whole different state – ethnic settlers, indian tribes, agriculture, trade, economic difficulties) and the Children’s Museum which has the best track to build cars and race them.  We will have fun with physics there.

Needless to say.  Busy.  Photos will follow when I’m not in the fetal position.
