Just as the children care for each other well and the children grow in self care, they must also grow in the care for the world around them. In this module we’ll discuss the presentations which apply the preliminary skills presentations in the atrium and beyond.

The child has an inner drive to work because it is through work that the child builds his or her very self, while using and developing his or her primary instruments: hand and intelligence. The child works, not so much in order to learn as to become.

We will discuss what exactly are gross and fine motor skills that the child needs to refine and the purpose behind such “basic” presentations.

The topics of line walking is so core to the Montessori understanding of the refinement of movement, we take two videos to cover this topic.

Videos include topics such as cleaning up a spill, opening and closing, the pouring sequence, the folding sequence, the spooning sequence, whisking works, transferring with tongs, the cutting sequence, washing small objects, hand broom and long broom sweeping (with adaptations), and dusting.
